We spent some time in class writing about our weirdest, most vivid dreams. You have the Math MCAS this upcoming week, so the following is totally optional. If you would like to earn 5 Sanford dollars, take the dream you wrote about in class and investigate what it might mean by going to Kidzworld or by looking up dream interpretations elsewhere. You should first write one hearty paragraph about what happened in the dream, and your second paragraph should be what you interpret your dream to mean after doing some research. Each paragraph should be 6-8 sentences, and since I am giving you so many Sanford dollars for doing this, your response must be NEAT! You may type your response if you'd like.
In a psychology class I took during high school, we had to research the meaning behind one of our oddest dreams. I had a dream that there were two ladies living in my attic--a mother and her daughter. Whenever I was home alone, I would dream that they would walk down the staircase, stare me down, take food from the fridge, and then go back upstairs. At first, they were just kind of there, not causing any trouble. They still annoyed me though. However, as the dream progressed, they eventually started trying to chase me, and I ran to my neighbor's house to escape.
I chose this dream because it kept recurring. Based on the research I did, I learned that your house can often represent your body in dreams. Dreaming about the uppermost part of your house represents the uppermost part of your body. Since I was dreaming of unwanted people living in my attic, it represented unwanted thoughts "living" in my brain at that time. During this period of high school, I was under tremendous stress. The more I tried to ignore unwanted thoughts, the more they kept returning until I was forced to face them. I had to process all the things in my life that were bothering me that I was not taking the time to process until then (my sister moving away to college, my dad losing his job, my uncertainty over what I wanted to do with my life, and my mom getting diagnosed with diabetes). Through examining my dream, I actually gained some insight into my subconscious. Whether or not this interpretation was true or not, I had fun researching what it might mean. Now it's your turn...
