On Monday, I will give you a quiz on the following fun facts, so make sure you re-read this Weekly Update until you feel comfortable.
1. In the original version of Snow White, the evil queen wanted to eat Snow White's liver and lungs. (Ew!)
2. Some of the rejected names of the 7 Dwarfs were Baldy, Dirty, and Dumpy.
3. When the prince marries Snow White, the evil queen is forced to wear hot iron shoes that burn her. She dances herself to death.
4. We talked about the Rule of 3. In Snow White, “three drops of blood fell onto the snow from the queen’s finger."
5. In an earlier version of Cinderella, the evil stepmother tells Cinderella's stepsisters to cut their feet with a knife so that the slipper will fit.
6. Two pigeons peck out the eyes of Cinderella's stepsisters.
7. Cinderella's slipper was originally made of gold--not glass.
8. There are many different cultural versions of the fairy tales. In the Korean version of Cinderella, the main character's name is Pear Blossom instead of Cinderella.
9. Fairy tales weren't originally meant for kids. They were meant for adults.
10. Goldilocks does not escape from the bears in the 1837 version. The bears eat her.
